I got a telephone 'triage' call from a nurse last Monday afternoon and she offered me an appointment that evening! Excellent service and the nurse was knowledgeable, kind, friendly and reassuring

I visited a pharmacist because of a rash on my skin, the pharmacist recommended that I contact my GP as I would need an appointment today as it looked like shingles. I called the GP twice and was told there were no appointments and to call 111 after 6.30pm. I called 111 and they said the symptoms sounded like shingles and I should see a GP today. I explained that the receptionists wouldn't give me an appointment, they called the GP and were then given an appointment for me for 4.30pm. I saw the GP who said I had a skin infection and to come back and see him in 7 days. However the receptionist refused to give me an appointment, as they hadn't been released and she would get in trouble if she arranged one. Suggestion (1) If someone is told they need to see a GP immediately let them book an appointment. (2) if a doctor specifically tells a patient to book to see them in given time frame allow the patient to book that appointment. Shocking service remember the NHS is there to look after patients !!!!!!!!!

Had for the third time an appointment either cancelled or re-arranged. Today was done 17 minutes before appointment time. this was a 50 minute appointment for a set of breathng tests. This is not acceptable. was informed the reason was ue to software problem after the NHS IT was hacked over two weeks ago. Again not acceptable. Why is it other systems work in other areas of the NHS? Why leave it so long before cancelling? why because no-one cares enough to look at the diary the day before and say oh we need to cancel that as ..... I have always given positive feedback but this time it is negative. I have yet to see when this will happen now as it has been a long time in coming! Maybe i wont have it maybe i will who knows i certainly do not as i have no idea how this practice is run along with many it seems ! Appointments are hard to get locum Doctors which is fine if they care to doo the job well. Some do some do not i tend to try to see the same one as he is aware and knows of my on going problems rather than explain to a different person each time about the same thing. Reception team in the main do a great job until there is a problem, then it is as, if you have committed heinous crimes and you are asking for the end of the world. On the whole they are great but have to realise that the patients well at least some of us are, are genuine and are grateful to them for the effort and kindness they show. However they have to understand it is not always personal when someone moans or complains it is our health after all that we are there for. Being told what can i do is not the best response to someone or it is not my fault, yes we know that however as the face of the practice they need to understand that when someone who is genuine has an issue it should be reffered in the right way. I am not asking for the world just an explanation as to why how or when? or to be informed prior to the day so i can re-arrange my working schedule. I for one apprecieate the time and the energy put into my care by the people who deal with me, my notes, refferals repeat perscriptions etc and i admire the fact that most know me enough to recognise me and say hello etc this is great and most welcoming but when i have encountered a problem i will tell you about it the same as i praise you for doing a great job! This is not making a fuss this is criticism which is fair and just.

I rarely visit the GP but have had more contact due to my first pregnancy. I have found some of the interactions with the receptionist team very concerning. It had been a struggle to book appointments when I have not been well, despite saying that I was pregnant. On one occasion, I was advised to contact the 111 after 6.30pm to get an appointment out of hours, despite calling at 4.30pm & citing a worrying temperature. I am not sure whether the reception team are to blame or whether the wider culture of the surgery is not quick to respond to more vulnerable/urgent needs. When I called the 111 service, I was informed that the GP have responsibilty for patients until closing time & that I should not have been given the advice I received. I will be e-mailing the practice manager for a response.

I do not like going to the doctors as I always feel I might be wasting their time, but I have had to go several times over the last 3 months and the service I get is very good. They have been very supportive towards me. I have had to have a lot of different tests and again they were all explained to help ,the doctor helped case up my hospital appointment. The only thing I would like to see is when you need to use the toilet they do not give you the key you have to wait for them to come round and open the door for you. I totally understand why they are locked but I am sure we dos not need them to open it for us. I would also like to say that the surgery always try's their best to give me a early appointment as they know I work nights.
